PL-Grid: the first functioning National Grid Initiative in Europe
On 30 March 2010, Poland - as the first country in Europe - has initiated functioning of the National Grid Initiative (NGI). The task of the NGI is to enable the scientific computing centers joining the European grid, what will help the scientists from a given country obtain access to the large computing resources and storage, as well as it will facilitate cooperation with scientists from the research centers like CERN. The Polish grid initiative is being run by the PL-Grid Project, which manages the grid infrastructure in Poland. The members of the PL-Grid elaborated the procedures concerning transition from EGEE ROC to NGI. These procedures pave the way for other countries. |

The PL-Grid project will be promoted at the exhibition stand held during the CGW'10 in Krakow, Poland, on 11-13 October 2010.
The article with information about PL-Grid was published in the first issue of the EGI-InSPIRE project's "Inspired" newsletter.
PL-Grid was advertised during the HPC 2010 workshop, in Cetraro, Italy, on 21-25 June 2010.
The Zeus cluster was 161st in the June 2010 edition of the TOP500 list. This cluster is part of the all-Poland grid infrastructure being created in the framework of the PL-Grid project.
